National Eligibility cum Entrance Test 2019

The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG will be conducted by the NTA from 2019 onwards. This Test was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018. NEET (UG) is applicable for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in India in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament i.e. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry.

The responsibility of the NTA will limited to the conduct of the entrance examination, declaration of result and providing All India Rank to the Directorate General Health Services, Government of India for the conduct of counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats and for supplying the result to state/other Counselling Authorities.

Medical aspirants should gear up as the expected dates for NEET 2019 is out. Admissions which are based on NEET results will begin in deemed universities. Admission into approximately 65170 seats of MBBS and nearly 25730 BDS courses. As per the information available on MCI and DCI websites, 470 medical colleges and 308 Dental colleges take part in the official admission process based on NEET results.

Eligibility
Eligibility Criteria for NEET (UG) 2019
  1. Aadhaar card is a mandatory requirement for form submission, apart from being eligible for NEET exam.
  2. Mobile number and email ID entered during registration must be candidates own or their parents.
  • Age criteria for appearing in NEET (UG) 2019
  1. For candidates of Unreserved Category (UR) born on or between 06.05.1995 and 01.01.2003, 25 years as on December 31, 2019.
  2. For candidates of SC or ST or OBC category born on or between 06.05.1990 and 01.01.2003, maximum of 30 years as on December 31, 2019.
  • Maximum attempts
  1. Maximum of three attempts will be counted from NEET 2018 entrance test. If the student has appeared in NEET 2018 then his or her attempt is counted as one, prior to NEET 2018 entrance test attempts are not counted.
  • Other ceiteria
  1. NRI or Foreign Students: A student from Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Foreign Nationals are eligible to appear in NEET (UG) 2019.
  2. Indian National: All the Indian Nationals are eligible to appear for NEET-UG 2019.
  3. The minimum qualification should be 12th (Senior Secondary) pass from the state board or from the recognized University. The subject in Class 12 must be Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology or any other elective subject with English.
  4. Students must have secured minimum 50 per cent marks in PCB group for general candidates and 45 per cent (for general PH) and 40 percent (for SC or ST or OBC categories).

Pattern
NEET EXAM PATTERN- 2019

  • NEET will be a three hour long consisting of 180 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). The exam will be held in 8 languages including- English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Oriya and Kannada.
  • For each correct answer, students will get four marks and for one mark will be deducted for any question answered incorrectly.
