Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2019

JEE Main (Joint Entrance Examination) is a top level Engineering Entrance Exam of India conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) from 2019 onwards. This Examination was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018.

JEE Main is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.

The States of Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland and Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system. Therefore, the candidates seeking admission to the institutions in these states, which were earlier admitting based on their State Level Examination, are also advised to fill in the JEE (Main) - 2019 application form online.

Eligibility
Eligibility Criteria for JEE (Main) 2019

Candidates must satisfy prescribed eligibility conditions before they apply for JEE Main 2018.

  • Requirement of Aadhaar- Clarification

  1. All the Indian citizen candidates should possess AADHAAR card issued by UIDAI. At the time of filling application form of JEE (Main)–2019, the candidates will have to enter their AADHAAR number, name, date of birth & gender which will be validated with the UIDAI’s data. In case, these particulars do not match, the candidates will not be able to fill the application form for JEE (Main)–2019. Therefore, the candidates are advised to ensure that their AADHAAR card has correct details of their name, date of birth & gender as per school records. If there is some mismatch in these details, the candidates should immediately get it corrected in AADHAAR data or school records, as the case may be.
  2. The above provisions shall be applicable in all states except J&K, Assam & Meghalaya.
  3.  The applicants who have passed or appearing in Class XII examination from the states of J&K, Assam & Meghalaya need to enter the passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid Govt. identity number provided they should select the city of examination in these states only.The online application process will start from September 01, 2018 onwards. The last date for application is 1st January, 2019 and fee can be paid upto 2nd January 2019.
  • Date of Birth
  1. Candidate is allowed to submit only one Application Form. Multiple Applications of a candidate are liable to be rejected.
  2. Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1993 are eligible and SC, ST and PwD candidates who are born on or after October 01, 1988 are eligible.
  • Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination (QE)
  1. Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2017 or 2018; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2018 are eligible to appear in JEE(Main)- 2019
  2. Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th/qualifying examination in order to be eligible for writing JEE (Main) - 2019

The fee (in Indian Rupees) for JEE(Main)-2019 is as follows:

Exam's pattern For JEE (Main) 2019

  • Paper-1
  1. Paper-1 is conducted for admission to B.E./B.Tech courses.
  2. The exam mode for paper 1 will be offline as well as online (CBT). Candidates can opt any one of the modes as per their suitability.
  3. The paper-1 will consist of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.
  4. 30 questions will be asked from each subject with total of 90 questions comprising of 360 marks.
  5. Only objective type questions will be asked in Paper-1.
  • Paper-2
  1. Paper-2 is conducted for admission to B.Arch/B.Planning courses.
  2.  The exam mode for this paper will be offline (PBT) mode.
  3. 30 questions will be asked in Mathematics (Part-1), 50 questions in aptitude test (Part-2) and 2 questions in drawing comprising of total 390 marks.
  4. The Mathematics and Aptitude test section will contain objective type questions. Drawing test will be subjective.
  • The time duration will be 3 hours.
  • Candidates will be provided with +4 marks for each correct answer.
  •  In case of wrong answer, one mark will be deducted.
  • For all exam cities, the question paper medium choice will be English & Hindi(except exam centre cities in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli where choices for question paper will be English, Hindi and Gujarati). The choice for question paper should be exercised while filling up the application form.

Cut off

The JEE Main Joint Admission Board (JAB) will release the JEE Main cut-off scores required to seek admission into B.E./B. Tech and B. Arch/B. Plan programs through the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB).

The above mentioned policy could also be adopted by other Technical Institutions participating in counselling through JoSAA/CSAB. In case a State opts to admit students in the engineering Colleges affiliated to State Universities, the State may prepare separate rank list based on criteria decided by them.
